In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Imam Hassan al-Askari (AS) and the Liar Begger (for 10 years old and more)
A man called Isma’il bin Muhammad said that one day he sat down on the road waiting for Imam Hassan al-Askari (AS) to pass by so that he could ask him for some money. Even though, Isma’il had buried some 200 dinars and kept that for the future.
When the Imam passed by, Isma’il began complaining of his condition and he said to the Imam, “I swear by Allah, I don’t have anything, not even one dirham and nothing to eat for lunch or dinner.”
Imam Hassan al-Askari (AS) told him, “you are swearing falsely in the name of Allah, when you have buried away 200 dinars?! Yet I am not saying this to you because I don’t want to give you anything.”
And the Imam then told his servant to give the man whatever he had with him and it was 100 dinars! This was the rule of the Ahlul Bayt (AS). They would never turn anyone back empty-handed and no one could say they came to their door and were refused, whether they were deserving or not.
Then Imam Hassan al-Askari (AS) came close to Isma’il bin Muhammad, after giving him the money, and said to him: “you will never get to enjoy the 200 dinars that you have buried and you will lose it when you need it most.”
Isma’il bin Muhammad said that what the Imam told him is exactly what happened. There came a time when he was really poor and in need but when he went to remove the money he had secretly buried, he found that it was gone. One of his sons had seen him burying it and he stole the money and ran away.
